I just received a box with a project that I just cant share, at least not for a couple off months. It is going to be a project that pushes my limits as a quilter. I hope to learn quite a few new way of doing things or learn for the first time some new techniques. Shall I tease you a bit with the fabric choices???? Should I??? Hmmmm, Yea I guess I can, but you just cant peak at the project, Sorry!

I love Springtime, who doesn't? I keep trying to come up with things to use for holidays which brings us to the month of March and St. Patrick's Day. I know I saw something like this somewhere on the net. (How many times have we said to ourselves, I know I saw that somewhere?) Anyway, I came up with this table-runner. It was very easy to make and then I used a green thread to do a FMQ stipple pattern. I really like how this one came out.

I search for several day for a pattern to use for the strips. I soon found this pattern called box in a square. I had multiple strips of the same turkey fabric so used those as the box and all the other themed strips to make the squares. This is a really easy patter to make with a Jelly Roll. This one is sitting in the UFO pile awaiting its turn.

So now what to do with all those Christmas strips. I have a ton of those and just havnt come across a pattern that just hits me like this one did. One day it will "hit" me.

I have been quilting all along since my last post. Life just got the best of us with hubbies stroke. I have been sewing to try to keep my sanity. Its been a rough few months, but things seem to be settling down and I can get back to blogging. Thanks for hanging with me.

I have to catch you up on what I have been sewing. Lots of posts to come in the upcoming days.
First up is the Rick Rack Nines from Bonnie Hunters Leaders and Enders book. I love how this one came out. I made a boo boo tho, I one day just started sewing 2.5 in squares together thinking oh Ill just throw these into something later. I finally decided I had enough 9-patches, so decided to look and see what pattern would use them. Saw the picture of the Rick Rack Nines and said oh Ill do this one. Well guess what size squares that pattern calls for 2 in. Yup you read that right!! So off I went to make this work with the 9-patches I had already sewn. I had to adapt the pattern but finally figured it out and here it is. Yea Me!

Until next time, keep sewing.
This one is Bonnie Hunters Rick Rack Nines from her book Leaders and Enders. I messed up when making this one as I was just putting together 2.5in blocks into 9-patches. This pattern called for 2in blocks. Took me a while to figure out how to adapt this to make her patter, but I finally did. Still have some sewing to finish the top and it need borders. I was thinking a red border, but havnt figured out what to use as the larger border. I had a suggestion to use a small black border and a larger red border. I am thinking I may do that. Ill have to think about it.
I made this one a long while ago and thought I would FMQ it,but got so frustrated with it that I had to put it way. Off to the UFO pile it went. Michelle over at Michelle's Romantic Tangle is focusing on Baby quilts, so I am pulling a new one out of my UFO pile to finish them up. Thanks Michelle for the motivation to get them finished. I will have an easier time of it cause I learned alot about FMQ while involved in The Free Motion Quilting Project this past year.

This quilt is more for a tiny newborn then could be used as a wall hanging in the baby's room. Hmmmmmmmm...So,off I go this weekend to finish this one up and will post the final picture next week.

here are the little trees all trimmed up. Have a bit to finish of the trees. Once the trees are finished, the quilt goes together rather quickly. Trying to decide if I will stuff the trees to they look dimensional.
I'm not sure but this mystery seems so much bigger than Orca Bay. It feels massive, but is going to be wonderful to snuggle under once finished!! Truth time. When I first put together one of each block, I was not liking this mystery at all. I felt a bit dejected. If it had not been for another lady showing a picture of what part of hers looked like, I think I would have dragged my feet to finish this. I was loving what hers looked like, so I pushed forward and am quite happy with the way this came out. I am actually loving it.

There was a discussion recently about what a scrap was. Some people stated that their scraps were made up of things from fat quarters to 2.5 in pieces. Most said they don't use much less than 2 in pieces for scraps. Me, well, I use everything. All those threads and trimmings and such that most just trash into the trashcan and then take out with the trash, I keep those. Yes, I really do. I use them to make pillows or stuff ornaments like this little tree here. It is stuffed full of batting trimmings, block trimmings, strings. Anything, that most would call trash, its stuffed into this little tree. I was able to make over 45 of these ornaments using up two FULL ziplock bags of trimmings. Not a bit of quilting goes to waste in my house...LOL.

The next item I finally got finished is this Christmas pillow. I could have made it with strips of fabric, but I had been gifted these fabrics in 2 in blocks. I sewed them all together to make a throw pillow.

I also made this table runner using up some o those 2in blocks, then pulled the burgundy fabric from my stash. This will look perfect on my Christmas dinner table. Once I get it decorated Ill have to come back and post a picture of what it looks like. I'm so excited to finally get going on some of my Christmas project. Better late than never, right???

I also cut two 3in green blocks to make 4 triangles. Did you remember?

I am actually keeping up this year with the mystery! Last year I got so frustrated on some of the steps that I just had to put the mystery away. Took me almost a year to finish Orca Bay! Not this year! I am bound and determined to get every step completed in the week it is presented. So with all that said here is the pile of my 2 x 3.5 in Flying geese. Where Bonnie chose to use purples, I have chosen blues!

Below is one each of the geese and the fabrics I chose to use. Don't they all look nice together?

I also cut the 64 2 x 3.5 black and white rectangles that Bonnie said would be used for the part 3 of the mystery and put them away with the other steps.

I am just about out of black and white fabrics for the background, so will have to go scouting this next weekend for more of them. I had hoped to not have to shop, but well shopping for fabric is what we quilters do, right?

The linky party for step 2 is up. Hop on over there and check out where everyone else is on their mystery.

A new mystery that is. It is called Easy Street and Bonnie says it is to be much easier than the past two mysteries.

I have yet to finalize my color choices for the mystery but did settle on the constant gray and the black and whites for the background fabrics. Part one was to make 192 4-patches that will finish 3 in.

Here is a picture of mine.

Bonnie is holding a linky party HERE. Go check out the color combinations others are using. We are off to a running start. I just hope I can keep up this year. Took me almost a year to finish Orca Bay...LOL

Can't wait to see clue two next Friday.

Have a great day everyone!
Boy it was a mess, but after a good cleaning, she is as good as new. She has been well loved. I plugged her in and turned her on and she purrs like a kitten. Lovely.

She is a Singer 6234.

I cant seem to find out her age. according to the Singer website, LOL, she is a 1900. That cannot be right. This is according to the serial number which only has one letter in the front and it is an N. From the looks of her I am thinking perhaps a 90's machine.

If anyone owns one of these, let me know. I have some questions about where to get parts for it. It only came with one bobbin and it has a crack in it. Learning to fill the bobbin on this machine was quite interesting. I have never had a drop in bobbin machine.

We will have so much fun working together, I am sure.
