Grounded From Sewing Machine

Sadly, my therapist has grounded me from my sewing machine. I had shoulder surgery back in Dec. Everything was doing well with my shoulder until about a month ago. I just kept pushing and doing alot more than I should have. I have now lost 50% of my range of motion. So therapy is where I am spending 3 days a week. It is so painful.

I am doing small things that I can hold close to my body and work on, so Im still sewing.


Hopefully, I can get back to my sewing machine soon. I miss it so!

Quilt for a Cancer Patient

This quilt was made using blocks donated from the members of  For the Love of  Scraps.

This is the Front.

This is the a full size quilt and was the first large quilt that I FMQed. It has loop-de-loops and hearts.

Pincushion Swaps

The Facebook group called For the Love of Scraps also did a pincushion swap, here it the gift I received from Jenn.

She sent a cute, cute, cute strawberry pincushion, a tissue pack and this Mason jar lid pincushion.

So I took the lid and made my own grab and go quick repair kit. 

I put the lid on a mason jar filled with all those little tiny thread spools that you somehow end up with through the years. I put some pins and a couple of needles on the top and now I can grab this jar and do small quick repair. Soooo Nice!

I was introduced to a website that apparently has been around for a while. I don't know how I haven't come across it in all the web surfing I do. Anyway, the name of the website it quiltingboard.com. There all kinds of swaps and block exchanges, even an area for selling or trading. An virtual wealth of information and friends can be found here. My first swap I joined was the pincushion swap.

This is the second cushion I received. Looks like a flower to me. I love it!

Round 2 Round Robin with KMIS

Here are the two blocks I chose to do for the Block Round Robin in Keep Me In Stitches.

This will be a jar of buttons. I will add the buttons once my block comes back to me in three months.

Scissor Block

These will return home to me in three months as there are three rounds. I have requested that 30's fabrics or the like be used for the blocks. Can't wait to see what comes back home!

My Very First FMQ Finished Quilt

I have to brag!! I did it!! I finally Free Motion Quilted an entire quilt. I actually completed a 5 point star challenge in the Carol Doak yahoo group, made it into a quilt and FMQed the whole thing. I had had some real troubles the past few months trying to figure this out. But a really dear friend Carol wouldn't let me give up. Thank you Carol!

So now that I have taken the plunge and finished a quilt I will be doing more FMQing in the future. All those UFO's will now get finished!! Yippee!

Block Round Robin with KMIS

My block from the Block Round Robin with Keep Me In Stitches showed up today. I sent off the little 4.5in sewing machine block and after three rounds here is my block.

So I need to make my blocks for the next round. Think I am going to do a pair of scissors and maybe an Olfa cutter block.

Cant wait to see what the next round brings!!
