Another Baby Quilt on the Chopping Block

I made this one a long while ago and thought I would FMQ it,but got so frustrated with it that I had to put it way. Off to the UFO pile it went.  Michelle over at Michelle's Romantic Tangle is focusing on Baby quilts, so I am pulling a new one out of my UFO pile to finish them up. Thanks Michelle for the motivation to get them finished. I will have an easier time of it cause I learned alot about FMQ while involved in The Free Motion Quilting Project this past year.

This quilt is more for a tiny newborn then could be used as a wall hanging in the baby's room. Hmmmmmmmm...So,off I go this weekend to finish this one up and will post the final picture next week.

Found these blocks in a drawer I was cleaning out. 

Forgot I had them, promptly sewed them together and finished the quilt. I really like strip quilts!!

 Finished this little table runner using some scraps that where sent to me.

Found these blocks in a drawer and put them together to make another baby quilt. It is off to the UFO pile till I finish the other one.

Last but not least. I found this at a yardsale. Thought it was cute!

Baby Boy I Spy Quilt - Camo Style

My Daughter has  a friend at work that will have a baby come February  and this is the quilt we are currently working on for the little boy - Aiden!!

Aiden's mom and dad have decided to decorate his room in Camo! This is our gift to the really cute room!!

UFO's to complete by the end of 2012, Can I do It?

 

Well I have completely forgotten about these. I have about 30 of them done, then life got in the way! I have some major catching up to do with this. I really want to finish this by the end of the year like the plan says.  Anyone else doing these tiny houses?

So another UFO to knock off my list.



I am hoping by the end of the year to complete these UFO's.

1. Crabapple quilt FMQ'ed, bound and given to my Dad.
2. Bow-ties, top finished, FMQ'ed,  bound and used as a throw in my living room.
3. Pink baby quilt, FMQ'ed, bound and possibly given to a baby at Christmas
4. Baby boy I-spy quilt in camoe fabric, top made, FMQ'ed, bound and delivered to the new mom.
5. Halloween quilt, Top finished, FMQ'ed, bound and put away for next Halloween. 
6. Cousin's Queen Wedding quilt finished, FMQ'ed, bound and given.
7. Building houses from scraps quilt, finish squares, complete top.

So now these are in writing for the whole world to see...LOL. I will get these done, not necessarily in this order. 

A Baby's Quilt and Potholders

The past couple of days have been very productive for me. My sewing area is completely cleaned. I am steadily organizing. I have been surfing the net looking for creative and unique ideas for quilty/sewing storage. So many really cute and ingenious ideas. I need to utilize my pinterest account so I can keep track of all the wonderful ideas. I want it all so I can have the Perfect sewing area!! Will have to take my time.

While I'm taking my time I want to share with you my latest top finished. It started with those cute colored blocks with the black in the center. These 8 blocks were left over from a swap I did. I wanted to used them so they were not just laying around any longer and this is the creation I came up with. The original blocks were 6.5in. I traced a template to get the butterflies and this was born. It is the perfect size for a baby. I need to applique to butterflies and then I will gift this to the ladies in my guild who quilt so that it can be donated to the local Catholic Women's Home for Pregnant Moms. Such a cute quilt!

The two pictures below are potholders that I finally finished. The first is from a set and I have about 5 more of these to make. The second one is made from scraps. I just can't let a good scrap go!! Here is my remake of several fabrics.We are rough on our potholders and these scrappy ones are always put to good use.

My challenges for the next few days...

1. Finish my Sewing Machine Cover

2. Make my scrappy picnic quilt for the Sew Scraps A Long

3. Quilt and Bind two Christmas table runners.

4. Keep leader/endering the pieced boarder for Dad's quilt.
