Ok, here it is...my second post. I set this thing up two years ago, WHAT? Could'nt bring myself to post anything. Dont know why, but I didn't. Here I am two years later with no way of looking back at what the past two years has offered me in fabric's and quilts. Shame on me. I took some pictures but not enough to remember everything. I started quilting in the winter of 2009, just after my husband had double bypass surgery. I needed an outlet of all the stress that was my life at that time. A friend and I had been talking about how we REALLY wanted to learn how to quilt. I finally took the plunge and started my first quilt. It was strip blocks. I made enough of them to make a queen size quilt. Who am I kidding? Queen size quilt top (that is the stage it is at still...I dont know how to quilt the thing myself and sending these things out to a LA quilter is expensive.) Then I found Ann Smith with QTMysteryQuilts and her Summer Mystery. That was my second quilt and it is quilted and finished (a birthday gift) thanks to my mom.
From there I just kept going, making Quilt tops, placemates, table toppers and table runners, etc. Too many to count at this point and I regret not keeping notes about my journey. Here is a few of them that I could find pictures.
Blue Jean apron
Blue Jeans Lap Quilt
Bama Purse
Quilt Blocks for a Swap
Blocks from my first Block Swap
Sadly I cant find one picture of the quilts and stuff I have done in 2010 or 2011. That is so disheartening cause so much time was spent making them. I have given alot of my quilty treasures as gifts and I am going to try to get pictures to post later.
So one of my New Years Resolutions is to get back on this blog thing and START blogging. I intend to post about my treasures and challenges and swaps I may join through the year. So come join me as I traverse the year of 2012.
Yup, Genevieve, keep those posts coming! Have fun with it. It can be time-consuming, but it's a great way for me to keep on task. Hope it works well for you too.

So, have you learned to quilt yet? For me, the hand quilting is the best part of quilting! ;-) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you do have some pictures of what you've done! So your Mom quilted the mystery for you? It looks great!
ReplyDeleteYes, a longarmer is more than do-it-yourself quilting, but get some prices if you have anybody that is local to avoid shipping fees.
Welcome (back) to blogging. Your photos provide a nice sampling of what you've beeen up to!
ReplyDeleteI have found that Judy Laquidara's weekly Design Wall Monday link-up is a great incentive to compose at least one blogpost a week. Check it out at Patchwork Times.
Welcome back to blogging. Just keep a camera handy as photos draw people into blogs. And, your jeans apron is priceless. What a hoot. Especially like the waist band.
ReplyDeleteLooks as if you have it down pat now. Just try to post every other day or so until you get comfortable. I just take pictures all day long and then do a post if I have anything worth while.
